In de startmotor kan water binnendringen en corrosie veroorzaken, wat kan leiden tot kortsluiting of de startmotor kan permanent ingeschakeld blijven.
HazardHierdoor kan de startmotor oververhit raken. Dit kan leiden tot brand in het voertuig, zowel tijdens het rijden als wanneer het voertuig geparkeerd staat met het contact uit. BMW AG verzoekt om het voertuig buiten en niet direct naast een gebouw te parkeren totdat de reparatie is uitgevoerd.
