Na enkele jaren kan er door luchtvochtigheid en temperatuurschommelingen bij de bestuurdersairbag een defect ontstaan aan de gasgenerator.
HazardEr kan niet worden uitgesloten dat bij een airbagactivering na een botsing een te hoge druk ontstaat in de gasgenerator, als deze ontploft kunnen de rondvliegende metalen delen ernstige verwondingen veroorzaken en in het extreemste geval zelf tot de dood leiden.
