De passagiersairbag kan scheuren als deze wordt geactiveerd bij een ongeval omdat de airbag onjuist is opgevouwen tijdens het montageproces.
HazardEen gescheurde airbag kan de bescherming van de inzittenden verminderen, waardoor het risico op letsel bij een botsing groter is. Bij een gescheurde airbag kunnen ook hete gassen ontsnappen, waardoor inzittenden brandwonden kunnen oplopen.
